Each inductee is honored by a 22 inch bronze medallion in the sidewalk that includes a rendition of the racer’s car and lists top achievements in motor sports. The medallions proceed up the center of the palm-lined sidewalk alongside the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach race circuit in front of the Long Beach Convention Center.
In 2006, its first year, the City of Long Beach and the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach honored Phil Hill and Dan Gurney. 2007 inductees included Chris Pook, founder of the Long Beach Grand Prix; Brian Redman, winner of the first Long Beach Grand Prix in 1975; and the Newman-Haas racing team, who have more Long Beach Grand Prix wins than any other racing team.
